Hi, I am Pankaj Moghe. My wife Sarita & I have been working in arts & crafts since 1993. We are a renowned couple devoted to making and teaching different types of arts and crafts. We exhibit and teach our crafts all over india. We are a very well known name in cities like Nagpur, Delhi, Kolkatta, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Trivendrum, Coimbatore, Cochin, Salem, Pune etc.
We now have relocated from Nagpur to the Greenest City of India, Bangalore. Bangalore is a beautiful city, full of enthusiasm and opportunities. We had been visiting Bangalore for exhibitions since a very long time & found that the people here truly appreciate art in all its forms. We love the warmth that has been bestowed upon us, we love the weather and the greenery here. Our life here is fantastic and we're a bunch of Happy Bangaloreans.
Initially, we started out in different fields altogether. I worked for 15 years with various mutinationals like Jardine Henderson, PCL, Johnson and Johnson, Escorts at senior levels. But, an artist at heart, I felt suffocated in fields which were farthest away from fine arts. So, finally one day I decided to become a full time professional instead of being a part-time hobbyist and artist.
Sarita is an arts graduate and a professional beautician and cosmetologist. After working for a brief period with the Taj Health Club in Mumbai she started and managed her own beauty parlour for 15 years in Nagpur. She too is an artist at heart and wanted to be more creative.
Both of us opted out of our respective professions and started working as full-time artists 15 years back. We have never had any formal training in art, we are self taught. But today we are considered as an authority in our respective fields. Even today we keep on looking for different ancient and modern crafts and research them thoroughly. We keep on experimenting with different materials and ideas and incorporate them in our products. We come up with innovative ideas even in traditional crafts and give them a totally new look.
I am mainly in paintings : watercolours, oils and acrylics. I am internationally renowned for my 3-D paintings using natural materials like real stones, clay and paints. I also excel at abstract (modern art) paintings & silk paintings.
Sarita is mainly in porcelain and stained glass. She handcrafts delicate flowers in porcelain and makes various articles like name-plates, candle holders, mirror frames, photo frames, boxes etc. by combining porcelain work with wood. Specially her name-plates are popular and in demand all over the world.
We both have gained expertise in various mediums like wood, tiffany stained glass, glass etching, frosting, other glass crafts and authentic silk paintings. Our work is regularly exhibited in various Govt. expos. Since last 15 years we have been successfully teaching all these crafts wherever we have been exhibiting.
Our work has been appreciated and recognised by Govt. of India. They have participated in prestigous exhibitions arranged by Handicrafts Board and Dept. of tourism,Govt. of India such as : IITF, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, Dilli Haat and Suraj Kund Craft Mela in Suraj Kund, Haryana. They have been acting as consultants for design and development in handicrafts to the Govt. of India, and NGOs like Action Aid.
Which work on UNDP projects all over the world. We are registered as artisans & craftpersons with Handicrafts Board, Ministry Of Textiles, Govt. Of India, New Delhi.
We also had a son Indraneel. He passed away in 1999 after a long battle with kidney failure at the age of 19. He also was an artist. He was training an animator. His struggle with his terminal illness - which he did cheerfully was an example in bravery. He knew there was no hope for him & he was dying. But, he persevered till the end & spent his time in between hospital & dialysis in creating cartoons & poetry. He was also adept in making model airplanes from paper & glue. He was & always will be a source of inspiration to us.
We have been by most of the national level newspares like, The Times Of India, The Hindu, The Asian Age Deccan Herald, The Indian Express, The Hitavada, etc. & other regional newspapers.(Click Here for viewing the Newspaper Reports)
Our other interests & hobbies include love of music (I also play Hawaiian & Spanish Guitar, Harmonica & keyboard), cooking(I am equally good as Sarita), wine making, reading etc. Whenever we get time(which is quite rare) we love driving down to visit, National Wild Life Reserves. Fortunately for us, Bandhavgarh National Park, Kanha-Kisli(Pench) National Park, Tadoba National Park, Kolkas-Melghat National Park, Navegaon-Nagzira National Park & Bird Sanctuary are in a 500 km radius from Nagpur.
